Our response to racism in America

We are saddened, shocked, and angered by the widespread racism that still exists in 2020, most recently evidenced by horrific acts of violence and blatant injustices against people of color. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and countless others have been victimized by a broken system in which we are all complicit unless we act to stop it.

To the Black communities across the country: we see you, we hear you, and we support you. Black lives matter, and we believe Black life, and all that it encompasses, matters, too.

At Hencove, we are a team of storytellers. By assuming that role, we carry the responsibility to represent and amplify the voices of all people. And while we cannot speak for the Black community, we can advocate for the power of their rich, meaningful, and empowering stories. The story of Black Americans needs to be heard, understood, and recognized.

We can do better and we must do better. Moving forward, we’re committed to actively acknowledging privilege, decreasing cultural biases, and leading positive social change through the work we do as marketers, and as humans. We’ve begun to have conversations as a team. We’re spending time listening, reading, learning and unlearning. This is only the start of becoming part of the change.

Ultimately, we all know that actions speak louder than words. To that end, Hencove is committed to:

  1. Diversifying the Hencove team through proactive targeting of job posts

  2. Providing paid internships to remove potential bias in the applicant pool

  3. Seeking client engagements with businesses owned or led by minorities

  4. Filling our bookshelves with authors and stories that feature minorities

  5. Remaining open to new ideas that further our awareness and progress

Together, we can be the change. We pledge to continue being the change, even when the headlines have shifted. We hope you’ll join us.
